  • Can I carry a camera in for the oat ceremony

I will have my citizenship interview at the office in Newark, NJ in a few days. I read that after I pass the interview, I will be attending the oat ceremony afterward on the same day and get the citizenship certificate. I would like to know if it is possible for a friend who is driving me to the office to carry a camera so that he can take some pictures when I receive my citizenship certificate. I am not sure if this is allowed in a federal building or not.

Also, I have read some threads about experience with the interview in Newark but they seemed to be about 2 years old. If anyone just had an interview last year in Newark, I would appreciate if you can share your experience with me.

    Thanks,

    RJ

Cameras, computers, and cell phones are allowed.

I want to let people know that you can take a camera, cell phone, and even a computer with you when you go for your interview. You will be asked to set your cell phone to vibrate. I saw some people received phone calls and they answered them. They hang up the calls quickly. Someone else said that you could probably talk outside of the waiting room but I did not see anyone did that. My friend had a camera with him and he even took a few pictures in the waiting room. I also saw one person using a laptop while waiting.
