  • When to expect the oath ceramony appointment letter

ok i had an infopass app on jan 25 the officer approved my application on the spot they said i could have my oath ceramony as soon as the next day, today i recieved a letter in the mail that i was approved for citizenship and i would recieve another letter with a ceramony date.

How long does it usually take for the ceramony to be scheduled? after the infopass app the officer called me to verify my address for the oath letter.

      Sure,

I applied for N-400 April 23,2010 had my interview Oct 19 2010 decision could not be made because of dod checks, made an infopass on jan 25 the military interviewer told me a mistake was done on my application he was sorry yada yada yada said they would approve me and prob get me naturalized the next day, the case was handed over to my interview officer and within minutes he came out apoligized for the confusion approved me on the spot and said my oath letter would be sent out, 20 minutes later he called to verify my address, this was all Jan 25, yesterday i got a letter in the mail saying i was approved for citizenship but no oath ceromony yet. Do you know when the oath ceromonies are held in El paso texas? i also called the 800 number and they said since its been more than 120 days they would find out the status of my case. Im impatient but i want this to end.

        Sorry my dear friend,

I can not be of much help. I am not in that area. I am in MD. I had my interview on 25th Jan 2011. I passed it but my case was not approved as I had not completed my 5 year of LPR so I had to wait. Every thing went fine and quick. But I have completed my 5 year but have not received my oath letter. So wondering that should I also make an appointment or not. . But thanks for your reply.

Yes, you can be interviewed earlier than the 5 years but your oath date (and sometimes also your approval) will be after you fulfill the 5 years. The reason for this is that some USCIS local offices have less workload or process applications faster than others and hence you might be scheduled for the interview early.

From past experience it takes between 2-3 weeks to receive your oath letter after the interview unless you get it on the spot!

It can take upto 90 days for the oath ceremony depending on the frequency of the oath ceremony in your city. The letter is normally sent 15 days before the ceremony date

The problem is now I checked online and its saying: Post Decision Activity. I keep checking online for a date but nothing. Any info I appreciate!!! Thanks

Take it easy friend! After all this year ( I am assuming) that you have been waiting, just wait a little bit. It is part of the process. After interview, it may take up to 3 weeks depending of the area that you live! Congratulations! We are in the same boat! Let me know what happened; my local office is Charlotte, NC, how about you?

I know I know I've waited this long whats a couple of weeks or maybe months! I just thought that it was weird that they did not have a date for the oath ceremony and then when I ckd online it did not say approved but went right to POST DECISION ACTIVITY. I am in Boston, MA. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything.

I would suggest to wait for two or three weeks (one month maximum). If you do not hear back and your status does not change then you can schedule an Infopass appointment at your local USCIS office and go there in person to request an oath date.
