BMB2011 number from NVC and interview

Hi Guys,

I need help to understand the situation properly. I have been in US on F1 visa. My application has been approved by USCIS for green card based on marriage and NVC has started processing the application but they gave number starting from BMB...which means its mumbai embassy based number. Do I have to go to Mumbai for interview for getting GC or it will be in US only? Can you guys help me in that...my wife is on Green Card and her N 400 is just recently accepted and process has started...It will be great if someone can help me in that

Hi Vishal,

From what I understand, you will have to come to mumbai for your visa

Only if you have applied for Adjustment of Status (I-485), and that is approved, will you be able to get your visa in the US. Current processing time for AoS is about 4-5 months.

AoS costs $1070
but your immigrant visa which you get form mumbai costs $404
you will have to get medical done for both places

It is still worth using the AoS route as u will save some $$ on airfare
