My Hubby and I moved to the USA 5 years ago, I came in earlier, so I am due for citizen application now, but my hubby is due in 2 months.

My hubby travels back and forth within these years but was never out for more than 6 months as he was not working here. and we filed jointly during the last five years

    - what are our chances for naturilization
    - Can I wait to submit our application at the same time?

    Please help!

Sure, you can wait for two months and apply together with your husband. In general, USCIS processes the applications in parallel and schedules your fingerprinting, interview and oath dates together. At least that is what happened when I applied with my spouse. We sent in our applications in separate envelopes but all steps were synchronized by the USCIS so we always went to the local USCIS office together.

To be eligible for naturalization, both you and your husband need to meet the continuous residence (no trips longer than 6 months) and the physical presence requirements (at least 30 months physically in the US in the last five years). It appears that your husband traveled a lot. So make sure he meets the 30 month presence requirement.

If you meet all these requirements, paid your taxes on time and had no issues with the law while you were a permanent resident, then your case will be straight forward.

    Good luck!
