    Hi -

Please let me know what is the criteria to apply for citizenship. Do I need to wait 5 years after getting a PR status or can I apply earlier.

    Appreciate feedback around this.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

You can apply earlier before your 5 years! 4 years and 9 months exactly! Good luck!

You can apply 90 days earlier than the date when you will be a PR for 5 years. Be careful, it is 90 days, not 3 months. I heard of cases being declined because they applied just 91 or 92 days earlier. Calculate the exact number of days and just to be on the safe side I would suggest to apply 88 or 87 days earlier than the 5-year status. You won't lose much by a couple of days, but you can lose a lot of money and a lot of time if your case gets declined just because you applied too early.

True 90 days exactly, not less!

If you got your green card through marriage but didn't get it right away (didn't apply right away) does the 3 years start from date of marriage or date of issuance on the green card?

I've been married 4 1/2 yrs and only had my green card 1 1/2years...do I have to wait until I've had my green card 3 years to apply for citizenship?

          Thanks for ANY info!!!

3 years minus 90 days of you being a permanent residence and being married to the same American spouse! So you have a little bit to time to reach before your Citizenship application. Good luck!
