  • Post Decision Activity, how long does it take?

    Hello there!

I am in a serious need of information about my naturalization status.

I was interviewed on June 13, 2011. The interview was very straight forward, I passed all the test, the IO asked me couple questions about my application, no problems were mentioned. I had a ticket for public urination, which I paid a fee, and the officer told me that it does not have a bearing towards my application. The interview took maybe 15mins. He said congratulations, handed me an approval letter and said that my oath taking letter will arrive by mail within 4-6weeks.

Its already the end of august, still havn't gotten it. I checked my status online last week, and it says that the supervisor review of your case was completed on August 17 and they will mail me a notice about the decision. What does that mean? how much longer am I suppose to wait?

Im planning to go overseas in october, which will require me to apply for visa. I dont know if I should apply now or not.

    I need help!

    thanks!

also, are they pretty good in updating the status online? I also just moved, I did updated my address online but still worried that my letter is going to be sent to my old address. Checking the status online is the only way I can tell if a letter was sent or not.

Did you try calling the USCIS 1-800 number? When calling, ask to talk to a 2nd-tier officer, they usually have more info on your case.

I did call them few weeks ago. I felt it was pointless. Whoever I talked to just read "word for word" what ever is written online for my case status, but again, i wasn't sure if shes just work for the switchbox or actually an IO officer. Maybe ill try calling again.

One thing you can try if your local USCIS office is nearby is to schedule an infopass appointment. I heard that some were able to get their oath letters on spot. Might be worth a shot.

Give sometimes, please! I understand how you feel. No one could to tell exactly when it will be done! Every case is different. They will mail a decision as they said, so wait and not to worry because everything is going to be great! Share with us, please. Good luck!
