  • English and Civics test

So my girlfriend is waiting for an appointment for her interview (I presume the tests are at the same date). We have gone through the official Naturalization Self Test from the USCIS website , the publications, and the Practice Tests, and they seem really easy.

My question is, are the tests harder when you are there? Like do they ask you a question and give you options, or do they ask you a question and then sit in silence until you formulate it yourself?

There are no surprise questions. They choose 10 out of the 100 possible questions, so it cannot be harder. You know all 100 questions beforehand. Once you answer 6 questions right you pass and the officer stops.

The test is not multiple choice; i.e., the officer does not give you choices for the answers. You need to answer on your own. You will answer in a sentence or just a word. Like if the question is "What is the name of the President of the United States now?" you answer "Barack Obama" or just "Obama" or you could say "The name of the President is Barack Obama"

If you study all the 100 questions, the test is really easy. Just be calm and answer without hurrying. You will be fine.
