  • Friend applying for citizenship, is this considered as public charge?

I have a friend who is actually going to be applying for her citizenship on September. According to the "USCIS Public Charge Fact Sheet" she has never applied for any of those things such as housing benefits, nutrition programs (food stamp), foster care and adoption assistance etc.

The only thing she applied for is Financial Aid which provides assistance for students who can't pay for their education (this is not a loan but rather a pell grant to assistance students with education). Is that a public charge or is her citizenship in jeopardy because of the financial aid she applied and received?

    Thank you

Your friend's citizenship will not be a problem because he/she is receiving financial aid. The only thing related to finance in the citizenship application is if the applicant has paid all local taxes. In the application, there is no question regarding accepting financial aid or not.
