Citizenship for Children

Me, my wife and my children are living in US and having Greencard. We meet requirement of Citizenship and plan to apply for our Citizenship.

My children are below 18. So if I apply for my & my wife Citizenship, my children will also get Citizenship automatically?? Do I need to apply for them??

I could not get clear answer. One of the lawyer is saying that they can get Citizenship only after 18. They have Greencard for 5 years and residing in USA with me. Is it correct reply from Lawyer??

Your minor children CAN become US citizens (in your case) by virtue of parent (s) becoming US Citizens by naturalization.

So the sequence in your case would be for you or your wife or both to start the Naturalization process and once you become citizens THEN apply for US passports for your kids. The assumption is your kids will be below 18years of age when they apply for their US Passports.

only if you need the the certificate of citizensip you file form N600 if you don't need that Just Apply for your children passport when you apply your's & your wife's .after your oath ceremony you will be informed of any of your Querries .Best of luck for your journey for UScitizenship .I just had mine last week:

Hey its correct..
You have to be a Green card holder for at least 5 years to apply for U.S. Citizenship. If you're a U.S. Citizen, they can acquire a citizenship through yourself easily. Try to apply Citizenship asap.
