  • Green Card/Citizenship Question

Our green card was approved in June 2007. Now we are ready to file for our Citizenship. Green card for me and my wife were approved at the same time. The issue date on my Green Card is June 2007. However, on my wife’s Green Card the issue date is June 2002 instead of June 2007. Looks like it is a typing Error. The expiration date for both the green cards are same (i.e. June 2017).
    Please advise us:
    1. Should we fix the issue date on the green card (by filling I-90 form) and then apply for the Citizenship?
    2. Or since we are applying for the citizenship it doesn’t matter and we should go ahead and file for Citizenship?
    3. Other suggestions/advices are welcome[/INDENT]Let us know if you have any further questions for us.
    Thank you

It's obvious that's a typo since the cards are issued for 10 years and the expiration date on your wife's card is correct. I think you can file for your N-400 without the need for a new card, but for the "Date you became a permanent resident" field on the N-400 form, make sure that your wife enters the correct date, i.e., June 2007.

I am not an immigration lawyer and this is just my opinion and what I would do if I were in your shoes. If you want to be 100% sure, you may want to ask a lawyer.

    Best of luck!
