    Hello All,

I just found this forum...and very new to this kind of forums...but this is very interesting and informative.

    My questions:-

1)I think I am ready to apply for citizenship. My Green Card issue date: July 26 2007. Can someone confirm that I can apply on April 26th 2012? I did not live outside the US for more than one month.

    2) How much money we need to send with the application form, for both myself and wife?

3)I know I need to send photos, Copy of Green Card and Marriage Certificate to USCIS. Should I include a copy of recent tax return or bank statement or something else? My wife is not a US citizen and she applies with me.

    4) How long do you think it will take for them to process my application? I live close to Omaha, NE. Do you have a URL link to check Omaha processing times?

I would highly appreciate your help.

    Thanks

    (1) Based on the USCIS date calculator here, you can apply on 04/27/2012. However, I would suggest to put a week or so of grace period and apply on 05/04/2012.

    (2) Current fee per person is $680. So it will be one check for you in the amount of $680, and one check for your wife in the amount of $680.

    (3) You will need to send in the N400 form, photocopy of front AND back of greencard, two passport-style photos, and the check for the fee. No need for a copy of your marriage certificate or tax returns. You are not applying based on marriage, you are applying based on 5-year residency.

    (4) The whole process takes about 4 to 5 months. According to the USCIS website, Omaha processes N400 in 5 months.

Finally one note: I was in the same situation as you, i.e., both I and my wife applied. We sent in our applications to USCIS separately in two separate envelopes. I think it's cleaner to submit as two separate mailings. Just my personal opinion.

Wow...this is great....I never expected such a quick reply and very professional answers for FREE. This is indeed a great forum.

I have one more question regarding Part-1 and Section B:

It asks to enter name EXACTLY as it appears on Green Card....my name as appears on Green is in the below format..

      Smith, James K

BUT, section B actually asks us to give full middle name too. So should I expand "K" to Kevin in the middle name field or should I keep my "Given Name" as James K?

My worry is that if I put Kevin in the middle name section, I can keep only James in the given name section, which will NOT be EXACTLY as it appears on Green Card. As mentioned above, this section asks us to enter the information EXACTLY as it appears on Green Card.

I would highly appreciate some insight into this.

      Thanks a lot again!

It clearly states FULL MIDDLE NAME. So fill in the full middle name even if you have only the initial on the card.
