  • Citizenship through marriage

I will be eligible to apply for citizenship based on marriage in couple weeks. I have had a greencard for 3 years. But I'm in the process of divorce. We didn't file papers for divroce yet. What would happen if I apply for citizenship and we will finalise divorce before the actual interview?
How long does the process take?
Would I be better off just divorcing and wait another 2 years to apply for citizenship?

Your application would get denied if you divorce before the interview or even if you divorce before the oath. I would wait 2 years and apply based on the 5-year residency rule.
