  • When and where is my interview for naturalization confusion?

    Hello,

I received Form I-797C notice for interview for naturalization scheduled back on April 17th stating I am supposed to appear in the Kansas City, MO office on June, 4th.
Last night I received the exact same letter dated from May, 15 stating I am supposed to appear in Springfield, MO on June, 12th. The new notice doesn’t say anything about disregarding the first letter, but has the same contents of papers required – word by word. Springfield, MO is much closer to where I live, but also I have never heard of having an USCIS office in there. I am positive there is not one.
I am hoping I can get somebody’s help who has been in the same situation before I call them on Monday morning. USCIS customer service is closed during the weekend. Do I still need to go to Kansas City on the 4th or I only appear in Springfield on the 12th?
I appreciate all your help! This forum is tremendous help.

It is really confusing, however if I were in your place I would do the following:

    1) Try to reach the field office of the first letter (June 4, 2012) and try to see what they advise. Please do that right away.
    2) If no concrete answer is obtained then go ahead with June 4, 2012 interview letter as if the second letter has not been received.
    3) Based on what happens on June 4 the picture will become much more clear.

You may try to call the Customer Service Center, ask to talk with the "Second Tier" agent, they usually have much more information than the first tier agents. Do that right away. If you find out things are still vague and not persuasive then DON'T MISS JUNE 4, INTERVIEW DAY.

      Update

Just wanted to update my thread....
After talking to a USCIS second tier officer this morning, she advised to disregard my first notice for June,4th interview and appear on interview on June,12 in Springfield, MO. She confirmed it twice and assured me I will not miss 'my interview' in Kansas City, since there is not one.
So, at this point this is what I will do - go on 6/12/2012 in Springfield, MO.
Thanks again for all your help!
