  • Applying for US citizenship

Hi All! I am a permanent resident in the US and my dad is a born citizen. I am in the process of applying for US citizenship. I have a question. Regarding listing all of the places where I have lived in the US:

Every time I moved, I submitted a change of address with the USCIS. The problem is that sometimes I waited longer than 10 days to submit the change of address. I have moved a lot over the last 5 years and cant remember the exact dates.

Do you think this will matter when they compare it to my USCIS changes of address?

    Thanks all!

Will the USCIS care if I am off by a few months with the change of addresses? Can they deny my application?

List the correct dates based on your mortgage or lease agreements. If the AR-11 forms are off that could be fine since there are in fact many applicants who failed to file AR-11s at all.

So the rule is, list the correct dates based on the time you actually lived at those addresses.

Great; so they won't make a big stink about the dates not being consistent with what I filed on USCIS website?

Generally no. I think you are fine. Just enter the correct dates on the N400 form.

Your dad's a natural born citizen and you have a GC? How and when did you get your GC? What are the circumstances? Are you sure you're not a citizen already?

                N-400: Part 7

Hi, I'm filling the N-400 application for naturalization and im stuck in part 7 (Time outside the US). The question asks me to put the dates of trips I took outside the country and if they lasted 24hrs or more. My concern is that I live in the border and i go often to Mexico and sometimes i've stayed there for a full day because I have relatives over there. My question is if that is considered a trip. Also I have to put the dates i left and returned wich I dont remeber . Can someone please help me out!?
