    Can a C1/D Visa File for Political Asylum?

    If someone has a C1/D Visa (Crewman/seaman visa, in transfer to D), the United States Immigration law says they are NOT eligible to apply for a residency. But is it possible to file for political assylum? Does it depend on what state you live in?
