Change of status from J1 to O1 Visa

Hi,

I am in US since 2011 with J1 visa including J2s.
Now a scientific company interviewed me and interested to hire me in O1 visa.
As I am from India; subject to the two year home residency requirement and have not applied for NOC or J1 Waiver.
My current DS is valid till April 2015.

Right now I am outside US with valid J1 for short term, and would like to know if my employer process O1 can I apply for O1 visa without J1 waiver?

I am in the same situation. I'm a j1 research scholar with a j1. I have a waiver and have an offer from a scientific company. Did you manage to change to O1?
