Lost Passport

Hello all,

I've just arrived in the US for my J1 Program, and my passport is now lost.

My J1 program will last until May 2016.

I was able to get my SSN, a Bank Account and my lease. The next step was to get my Driver's License/Photo ID.

I will need to travel outside the US befre May 2016, but not necessarily to my home country where the J1 Visa was issued.

I don't know what to do.

Can somebody please help me giving me directions?

You will file a police report indicating your passport was lost. After that, get a new passport from your country's consulate/embassy.

If you travel outside the US, in order to return back, you will have to get new J1 visa stamped in your passport.
