Application for Employment Authorization for J2, from abroad

Hi all,
I will apply for a J2 visa on 8th of June in the American Embassy of Madrid. After receiving my passport I would like to start as soon as possible the Application for Employment Authorization, directly from Europe.

Can I send my documents from Europe or should I be in the US when applying?

I understand that I will be called for taking the fingerprints. In the case I could start the process from Europe, what happens if I will be called for the fingerprints?

Unfortunately you cannot start the EAD process from abroad. One of the document you need (I-94) is available only after you enter the US. So you need to enter, collegct this document (and even the other in some case) and so apply for EAD.
