help for the question "do you intend to study?"

Hi,
I'm applying for a J1 visa to do research activity in a university laboratory. On the basis of this I will write my master thesis (that I will defend in Italy). My "exchange visitor category" is "STUDENT INTERN".
I'm not planning to have classes in USA. I will only do research in lab.
What am I supposed to say in answer to "Do you intend to study in the U.S.?" in DS-160? YES or NO?

I suppose if you are doing this towards your Master's degree, it is a "yes".
