Remote work for J1 visa holder

Hello, I have a question about J1 visa for postdoc positions.
Is it possible that a researcher that holds J1 visa, do their work remotely for the organization or university in the US while living outside of the US?
Assume the organization and the supervisor in the US are OK with the remote working of the researcher.

I have exactly the same query as OP. Is there any more information about remote working outside the US while on a J1 visa?

Status is something that you have only when inside the US. When you are outside the US, you don't have any US status (you are not "on J1"), and you are not subject to any US restrictions on employment. You may be subject to the restrictions on employment of the country where you are physically located, if you are not a citizen of that country.
