  • J-1 Waiver India - Permanent address vs. Next of Kin address

    Hello,

I am in the process for applying for J-1 Waiver. In NORI Stage 1, the application for miscellaneous services form has a "Permanent address" field, and the bio-data form has a "next of kin address" field.

In my case, I no longer live at my Permanent address (which I consider as the address mentioned on my passport), and the next of kin address is the address of my brother and parents, and it's in a different state than my Permanent address. I have other proofs for my Permanent address, such as Aadhar card (same address mentioned on the Passport).

For NORI Stage 2, I need to send the attested documents to State department for no objection statement. Should that be the State for Permanent address or Next of Kin address?

Will it help if the both the addresses are kept the same in Misc and bio-data forms? I am not in a position to travel to India currently to get the address changed on my Passport.

It's best to stay consistent with your addresses across the "Permanent address" field in the miscellaneous services form and the "next of kin address" field in the bio-data form, even if they currently differ from your physical location. Since changing your passport address requires physical presence in India, consistency avoids potential confusion during processing.

For NORI Stage 2, send the attested documents to the State Department associated with your current physical location. Explain the discrepancy between your addresses and your passport in a cover letter, attaching a copy of your Aadhar card as proof of the "Permanent address" on your passport.

Keeping addresses consistent simplifies processing and demonstrates clear communication. If concerned, contact the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) or the US Consulate/Embassy for specific guidance based on your situation. They can also advise on how to handle the address discrepancy due to
koows your developerbook inability to travel to India.

For the No Objection Certificate (NOC) application in Stage 2, send the documents to the State Department corresponding to your permanent address (as mentioned in your passport). This is because the NOC verifies your residency within that specific state. Although keeping both addresses the same might seem convenient, it's crucial to adhere to the instructions and use the address on your passport for official government documents.

While updating your passport address is ideal, it's understandable if travel isn't feasible currently. Focus on ensuring the documents provided for Stage 2 verification
or align with your permanent address.

This refers to your officially registered or long-term residence in India. The address should match the one in your passport or other official Indian documents (like Aadhar card).

Include a copy of your Aadhar card during document submission to support your permanent address.

Since you consider the address on your passport your permanent address, it's safe to use that in the "Permanent address" field of the application for miscellaneous services form.

That's a common situation during J-1 Waiver applications. Here's what you can do:

              For NORI Stage 1:
              • Permanent Address: Use the address on your passport for consistency.
              • Next of Kin Address: List your brother and parents' address with a clear mention that it's your "Next of Kin" address.

              For NORI Stage 2:
              • Send the documents for attestation to the State department corresponding to your permanent address mentioned in the passport (the one with Aadhar card proof).

              Keeping Addresses Same:

While keeping both addresses the same (passport and forms) would be ideal, it's not strictly necessary. The key is clarity. By mentioning "Next of Kin" for the different address, you explain the discrepancy.

              Focus on Clear Communication:

If you're concerned, you can attach a brief explanation to the Stage 2 voojio documents owespeedtest mentioning your current situation and inability to update your passport address.

How did you end up doing it in the end? Did you manage to get the visa? I’m really curious about how everything turned out for you. How are your studies going now? Have you heard about writing services http://domypaper.com? They were a tremendous help to me when I was studying abroad. Their support made a huge difference in managing my coursework, and I think you might find them beneficial too, especially if you're balancing a lot right now

Hey everyone, thanks for your responses. I wanted to share an update: I used the same address in both the miscellaneous services (permanent address) and biodata (next of kin's address), which is my relative's address rather than the one on my passport/Aadhar card.

This was approved by the CGI in NORI Stage 1, as well as by the MHRD and RPO for NORI Stage 2. However, to obtain clearance from the State Home Secretary for Stage 2, I had to update the address on my Aadhar card from my passport address to my relative's address (using the Head of Family process as I couldn't be present in person for the update), as the state required a document as a proof showing my name and my relative's address. Hope this information is helpful!

                    Hello,

In this situation, it's important to ensure consistency in your application. For NORI Stage 2, you should send the attested documents to the State corresponding to your Permanent address (the one on your passport). It would be helpful to align both addresses in the Miscellaneous Services and Bio-Data forms to avoid confusion, especially if your Aadhar card reflects your permanent address. If needed, provide supporting documents to clarify the discrepancy.
