  • Medical plans options for K-1

    Hello Folks,

Ok my fiancee is arriving soon and i need to ask a question on what is the best option for me to take. She gave me a link that is for inbound immigrants that are coming to the USA. https://www.insubuy.com/internationa...cal-insurance/ I have found this is cheap but it is limited medical plan and not a comprehensive coverage. So right now at my IT job does not provide medical as of yet now that Obama-care is passed.. So this means i have to buy my own healthcare plan privately and it is pretty spendy until my company offers medical.. So what is the best option for me in this case?

    1. Go ahead and get this limited coverage for her and pay for 2 different plans?
    2. Or i can shop around for a medical plan that will cover us both that is comprehensive.

Now if i get her the coverage plan that we both get on she falls into a 6 month pre-existing condition clause but she will get the medical care she needs if issues arises.

I would like your opinions and experiences and i like to know what you did to make that work for your K-1 Fiancee and yourself.

    Thanks,

Medical options available for you and for your fiance may vary a lot.

If you are bringing someone on K-1, you are definitely U.S. citizen. On the other hand, she is not even U.S. resident yet and does not have social security number either.

Therefore, your medical coverage will have to be different from hers at least until she is your wife. Even after, that depending upon the state you live in, and depending upon when she can get her social security number, there may be different restrictions the duration she must be resident in the U.S. before she can purchase some of the insurance plans.

Until you get married to her, you can look at Patriot America insurance, at https://www.insubuy.com/patriot-america-insurance/ It is not a limited coverage plan like Inbound Immigrant. In that plan, after you pay the annual deductible, it pays 90% for the first $5,000 in eligible medical expenses, and then 100% to the selected policy maximum, which varies from $50,000 to $1,000,000. Pre-existing conditions are NOT covered. Neither are birth control, maternity or preventive check ups.

For purchasing individual medical insurance for yourself, please look at http://www.domesticinsuranceusa.comh...cal-insurance/ You willl see various choices, depending upon your state. You may be able to enroll her as well in some of those plans later.

I hope that answers your questions.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.
