  • NOA1 for K1 visa not received yet. It's been 3 weeks! Help!

Hi guys! I'm a newbie here and I just wanted to be enlightened with regards to receiving the "NOTICE OF ACTION 1 RECEIPT" for K1 visa? My fiancé sent the I-129f packet last November 25, 2013 via USPS in Dallas Lockbox since he is just living in a city just 2 hours away from Dallas and it's already December 14, 2013 here in our timezone and until now, he did not receive any NOA1 in his mailbox. He had been checking his bank account from time to time and until now, the check has not been cashed. he had also filled in the g-1145 form and still no text messages or emails had arrived from USCIS. We are dreading right now since it has been 3 weeks already!! Does NOA1 Receipt takes this long? Anyone on the same situation? Pleaase help

If the G-1145 was used, there should have been a text and/or email message about 1-1/2 weeks after USCIS received the package. The NOA-1 usuall comes in 3 or so weeks after submittal.

Nothing seems to be sent out until after the check is cashed.

hi Ray B thanks for your response. Unfortunately, there had been no texts/emails for 3 weeks now. My fiancé checked the post office and they said they had sent it to USCIS 2 days after the date if mailing which is November 25, 2013 but how come most people usually get theirs faster. We are a bit worried since there seemed to be no movement on our k1 visa petition because the check has not been cleared as well... Should I give it a month of waiting for NOA1? This is frustrating. Thanks for the info anyway. You are a great help!

Your delay is unfortunate, but still not that unusual, especially considering the holiday season. You have no choice except to wait about 3 more weeks, then consider reapplying.

Whatever you do, don't stop payment on the check. I did that a couple years back for a delayed Naturalization app ($680) and resubmitted. USCIS found the first package after a delay of about 7 weeks, discovered that check wouldn't go through and billed me for the first payment (even though the second package was being processed).
