  • I Don't Parse bureaucracy Very Well

    I just need some input...

I (American natural-born citizen) married a Norwegian (natural-born citizen) in March of 2011. She was on a 90 VWP tourist visa when we married (I asked at the courthouse, they said it was no problem).

We are about to celebrate our 3-year anniversary. . .we have been traveling back and forth from Norway/US, and are ready to settle down more.

My wife and I both work online, and between gov't support in Norway and her job, she makes circa 25k USD/year after Norwegian taxes.

I've been looking and looking and can't figure out what in blazes I need to do.

We would like to have a green-card/permanent residence for my wife here in the states, but she would like to keep her Norwegian citizenship.

    Many thanks,

    MycoMage/Kevin Smith

I hate paperwork. I have been struggling with my K1. My finance is Myanmar. She cannot have dual, and we will eventually settle in her country. I will give up USA citizenship at that time.

    You need a K3 or CR1.

If her country will allow dual citizenship then she can keep hers. There is no law that says she must naturalize. She can just live in the USA on a green card.

Look into the future of her country. The USA is on the list of ten countries in serious trouble. It has no future. Is her country also? The big question is what will happen to all the economic refugees from the USA? I am glad I will be far ahead of them.
