  • How Transfer the embassy ( for K1 visa)

    Dear all,

I would like to take an opportunity to address my concern and looking for a proper guideline on my concern. I have a concern regarding the My K1 Visa as fallow:

As our petition has been approved on 5th Feb 2014 and case has been transferred to the NVC for the further processing. It's been a month and we have not received our letter regarding our case number and that is why I called NVC today as per the conversation with NVC associate in the customer service area, I have explained to her that my address has been changed and we did submitted this notification to the USCIS as well in December 2013 which they acknowledge on our status via USCIS website on case status updates. As per the recent conversation they had mailed the packet to the Mumbai on 18th of March 2014 rather than New Delhi.

I would like to have an advise on this how can i change the embassy and get my case back under the my jurisdiction embassy that is New Delhi. Please help me

I have done case transfers from one country to another (Dubai to Manila, Philippines to Canada, etc.), but always requested the change while the case was still at the National Visa Center. In your case, since the processing has been assigned and sent already to Mumbai, your request has to be directed to Mumbai and Delhi. Delhi has to accept the transfer, so you will need to provide a basis for the request in your correspondence with each U.S. consulate.

Apparently, many such issues are "special cases" when it comes to processing of visas in India. Most countries process U.S. visas at only one location, excepting Italy (correct me if I am wrong) and maybe Mainland China has designated an additional location than Guanzhou (HK is a different issue altogether), and India, also.

In a similar thread on this forum a few months back, someone posted that in India the processing is automatically done at the Consulate closest to your physical address of record. I don't know if this is entirely accurate, but you might keep that in mind.
