  • Hello I have a question about my I-485 form

    I have petitioned for my husband the visa K-1, which was approved and he is already in the U.S. now we need to apply for his residence, here is my doubt;
    since i am his petitioner i need to fill out form I-864 Affidavit of Support, I do not work nor have any income, I was getting cash-aid which has been canceled two months ago, and im only receiving foodstams but I have a Joint Sponsor who meets with the requirements, for part 6 question 5 where my annual income is required what should i put ? should i ask my Cash-aid/foodstamp worker to give me an annual income record with them and attatch it to my form, do i put ¨none¨ on my yearly income , im confused..will this affect in any way for my husband.. Thank you

    How are you surviving if you have no income at all? Surely you need more than just Food Stamps to survive?

    Anyway, you are still the primary sponsor, and your I-864 should show -0- income. Don't show welfare benefits as your income.

    Your co-sponsor must provide a full sponsorship package, with I-864, most recent Federal income tax return copy, W2 and/or 1099 form copies, employment verification letter, and proof of his U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status.

          Yes, you put "0" for your income.

                  She only needs to provide total income amount from her 2013 Federal income tax return, as well as estimated annual income in another section of the I-864.
