  • Waiting for my fiancee's visa- Can I do anything?

    Hello All,

I filed a K1 visa for my fiancee towards the end of July. My check was cashed and I got a mail saying that my application was received. I haven't got any update from them after that. Should I just wait? I though the entire process would take around 6 months, but this seems to be going very slow.

I was looking at the link below and it shows that for the I-129F, current processing date is March 4th. Is this link accurate? do I just need to wait till they come around to July?

Also, What happens if we have a child while we are waiting for this process. Would I need to file for the kid or does the kid become a US citizen because I am one?
I was looking at the link below and it looks like he/she will become a citizen right?

Thanks a lot for looking into this

You can expect the K1 petition to be approved in 3-6 months from when you submitted it. If not born in the U.S., the child will not become a U.S. citizen until it's birth is reported to the U.S. consulate or Embassy having jurisdiction for its area of birth and a U.S. passport applied for at the same time, DEPENDING ON HOW LONG YOU, AS THE PETITIONER, HAVE BEEN A U.S.CITIZEN (if not born in the U.S.).
