A friend in US received her approval letter from USCIS for her fiancee"s K1 application in August 2014. The "priority date" box was left blank. Approval notice is only valid until 12/22/2014. She has not received any information nor has been contacted by NVC. Is the priority date supposed to be left blank? What happens if she doesn't hear from NVC before approval expires? Thanks1

The K1 petition has "Immediate Priority" status and doesn't need a Priority Date.
Your friend's petitioner should have received a letter from the National Visa Center about 3+ weeks after the petition approval, providing a State Department case number and annoucing that the case will be transferred to a specific Embassy or Consulate.

Thank you for your response. Friend never got any word from NVC but did receive an email on Friday from Islamabad Embassy notifying her of the next steps she and fiancee must take prior to scheduling an interview. She got all of her documents done and will send this week to fiance to put in his packet.
