  • Affidavit of Support - Co-sponsor question

In another thread I have been informed that I can have a co-sponsor file an Affidavit of Support (in addition to my Affidavit of Support). My question is: Will my income on my support document be combined with the income of the co-sponsor? I ask this because the co-sponsor doesn´t make a lot of money (but I have no one else to ask). Or are they considered to be separate? Thank you in advance!

There are two types of sponsorship Affidavits of Support in use: I-134 for nonimmigrant visas (K1, for example) and I-864 for immigrant visas and Adjustment of Status. With use of the I-864, co-sponsors are allowed, but their I-864 and income proof must meet requirements for the co-sponsor's household and the immigrant. Unless the co-sponsor is a relative, living at the same address, and using form I-864A, his income cannot be combined with the primary sponsor's income.

Thank you so much for the response! I have one more question to get a little more clarification:

I will be filing the I-864 for the immigrant visa. The co-sponsors are my parents (household size of 2). My husband and I would be living with them when we move to the US. So does this mean that my income and their income would need to be enough to cover 3 people (my mom, my dad and my husband) or 4 people (my mom, my dad, my husband and myself)? Thanks again!

There are two ways you can do this:

        1. You submit a primary I-864, which will probably show no income and no 2013 tax return, and your parents submit a separate I-864 to cover a household of three people, mom, dad, and your husband.

        2. Or you can submit an I-864, and an I-864A from parents, and income can be combined, but the combined income must meet the requirement for a household of 4.

Affidavit of Support - Co-sponsor question

            hi i have question please
the immigration said i have to send my document by email the affidavit of support
If you have many forms and documents to send us, you might need to send more than one email for that case. As a rule of thumb, try not to send more than five megabytes (MB) of attachments with each email.
but i ready send my documents

Is it ok that my files are seven mega bites ?

You were either misinformed or were told this by one of the agencies that imitates USCIS to obtain fees from you.

There are two ways to send sponsorship documents:

              1. If visa applicant case is at the National Visa Center, you send the I-864 and supporting document by postal mail or courier with the AOS cover sheet after you pay the $120 sponsorship fee.

              2. If you are sponsoring someone already in the U.S., you send the documents by mail or courier to either the Chicago USCIS Dropbox or to a USCIS office whose address was given you in correspondence from USCIS.

The I-864, Affidavit of Support cannot be mailed to a government agency, because the signature of the sponsor must be original, not copies (as in email).

                Group A: Email processing
Scan and email your forms and documents to [email protected]. When you send us an email, please follow these guidelines.

Type the case number in the subject line of your email.
If you have more than one case, use a different email message for each of them.
For example, if you have two cases: ABC1234567890 and XYZ0987654321, do not send them in one email with the subject “ABC1234567890 & XYZ0987654321”. Instead, send us two email messages. One of them should say “ABC1234567890” in the subject line, while the other should say “XYZ987654321”.
Scan your forms and documents and save them as PDF files. After you create the files, attach them to your email message.
If you have many forms and documents to send us, you might need to send more than one email for that case. As a rule of thumb, try not to send more than five megabytes (MB) of attachments with each email.

My apologies. This is a newly-deployed procedure by the NVC for only Embassies or Consulate in 8 countries:
AKD, AMM, DMS, GZO, MEP, or SAA, but with with GUZ and MTL being optional (Email or postal mail).
