Hello,
My fiance and I just received approval from immigration service with our I-797 notice of action. So, it's on to the next step. I am trying to figure out the correct procedure if I cannot provide previous year's tax records for a K-1 Visa application. For tax years 2012 & 2013 I was in graduate school for my PhD, and lived entirely off of my post-9/11 GIbill and student loans. As such, I had no taxable income and was not required to file. I now have a full-time job that far exceeds the 125% poverty income line, and can provide all required document related to the job, but I have no tax records from the two previous years.
My aunt has offered to joint sponsor my fiance, but I'm unsure if this is advisable. However if we should joint sponsor, which forms should we submit: I-134 or I-864?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Steve
