  • About to begin petition for K3 visa - need proof of shared residence

Hi, here is my situation. I'm a US citizen about to marry my Indian fiancee. We are both currently residents of United Arab Emirates, living here on projects from our respective employers. After marriage we are planning to apply for a green card for her via the K3 visa.

However, before beginning the petition, one of the things my lawyer asked me for is "proof of shared residence". My fiancee and I were both given company accommodations by our employers. Of the two, mine is much more suitable for us both to live in, and we have been staying there for many months now, although it is in my name only (my employer does not know that she stays with me). The accommodation is a room in a hotel apartment; it's a hotel, but the rooms are built like 1-bedroom apartments, with a separate living room and kithcen. The only "proof" I have of residing there is a "hotel confirmation" letter with my name and all the information about my stay (it gets renewed every 90 days).

In this kind of accommodation, would it be sufficient to simply add my soon-to-be wife's name to this hotel confirmation letter? Or is some further documentation required?

My employer is particularly keen on knowing the answer to this question, since it is usually not in their policy to give family accommodations - and there have been cases where people bring their wives to live with them in the company-sponsored hotels in order to take advantage of all the amenities. They may be willing to make an exception in my case, but they are worried about the precedent it will set. Another potentially relevant factor is that in United Arab Emirates it is illegal for unmarried couples to live together (which is why I did not tell my employer until now).

All in all, it's a fairly complicated situation...does anyone have advice to offer? Thanks in advance.
