  • Can i go to the Philippines while waiting for NVC letter?

Hello, i filed my petition Nov 19 and was approved Jan 2, 2015 and it was sent to NVC for case number on Jan 12, 2015. Will i get a letter or have to call them? I am also planning to go to the Philippines on March to wait for my husbands interview. My question is, can i go to the Philippines even if im still waiting for the NVC letter on what to do next? Can i file/send the papers for the affidavit of support through scanning it and filing online? Thank you♡

For processing in the Philippines, the NVC sponsorship and civil documents must be postal-mailed to the NVC. There is no reason for you to not be able to travel while waiting, so long as you are providing the NVC with the needed fees, sponsorship documents and civil documents.

Thank you so much rayb for the reply. Last question, what form do i need to fill up for the affidavit of support? Can i fill it up now eventhough i dont have the letter yet from nvc? And can my sister mail it for me with my signature in it once we receive the letter and im in the Philippines already? Since they dont accept scanned papers with my signature... Thank you so much

For a fiancee (K1) visa, the applicant will need to take form I-134 with tax return, W2 and employment proof to the interview.

For an immigrant visa, you will need to postal-mail form I-864 with tax return, W2 copies, employment verification letter to the National Visa Center.

For which visa type are you applying?

There will be two fees, then two packets of documents to be sent to the NVC. Do you homework before you leave your sister to handle this.

The fees are paid individually online or by mail, after the invoices (fee bills) are received.

The documents can be sent all together, but there are NVC plans in place to allow scanning of civil documents (for some countries), though the sponsorship documents are still expected to be postal-mailed to the NVC.
