  • Do I need Legal Name change docs & translations?

My fiancee had her name changed when she was younger. Basically changed minor things from her father's name to her own.

Would this documentation need to be included in the initial submission to USCIS? If so, I am assuming the certified translation would also need to be included. We have listed the name change on the application, just wondering about the doucmentation.

    Thank you.

Any documents changing names from what is on birth cert requires documentation, including certified English translations.

Now that I look again, her birth certificate has her correct current name on it. It is the name we are using on all the documents for the application and it is also what shows on her passport.

It looks like this birth certificate was issued after the name change. If they changed the name on the certificate, maybe I don't need to supply the name change document and translation after all?

We did list her previous name on the documentation where it asks "All Former Names Used Legally" .... not sure if it would be needed to explain that.
