The DS 160 is pretty simple and easy to fill out, maybe one hour as far as i can tell, the only thing that was annoying was having fun trying to edit a picture to fit the requirements they need. Besides that you would need the receipt number from USCIS. I don't see a time limit or requirement of when you need to do it, I just assume if you do it before your paperwork get sent there's not point because they won't do anything till the NVC sends the paperwork and they receive it. That's just my opinion. For medical I think they need to contact you first to let you know who is authorize to do the medical otherwise they may not approve of the doctor you visit. So right now the things I'm focus on is finishing DS 160(waiting for my fiance to tell me a couple of things about her work and education) having her get her police certificate(for vietnam this certificate is good up to 6 months), and finding her shot record. If there's anything else I should be doing I'm not aware of it.

Thanks for posting this.
So I take it then that once the I-129F has been approved, and is sent to the NVC....there is nothing that we have to do at all until the NVC send it onto the US Embassy, is that correct?
The NVC don't need us to do anything while it is there????
Is it correct that we have to wait for the papers to be sent to the US Embassy before we can do the online forms and medical?
How exciting for you!!!!!!!
I still expect I won't hear anything for another 3 months or so....'0(

Ok. The DS160 is that not done by the Fiance? The person who will be attending the Interview? Or does my Fiance within the USA do that?

Doesn't matter who fills out the DS-160 however it is meant for the person who is being interview to fill out. I basically fill my fiance out for her due to the fact her english isn't great. But it basically ask about the person whose trying to get the visa. Things like family, work history, school history, any medical issues, police record, etc. then a long list of random questions... on of my favorite random questions. Do you intend to go to america to commit polygamy? I basically use a program call vsee to video call my fiance and then I link what I was filling out on my computer so she could see and tell me all answers to the questions as I fill it out. WARNING-there is a 20 minute disconnect thing, so if you don't finish your application you will have to start over if you didn't save. Save often basically.

Keep in touch and let us know how long it says with the NVC for.....I have read it can be held there around 4 weeks before being sent onto the US Embassy.
Keep us updated, excited for you!

I checked my status of the case on Thursday the 27 and it states they have received. I'm currently trying to pay the visa cost, and have already submitted the DS-160. However it looks like earliest appointment I can get my fiance is in May after the 15th, so a bit of a wait.

When you say they received the Docs is this the US Embassy?
How long roughly did the NVC hold your docs for before they sent it on to the Embassy?

so i'm in the same boat and starting to get worried...we didn't send in our stuff until Nov....got the receipt saying they received it on 11/21/2014....we've already got a venue and everything booked for August...i'm seriously freaking out over how delayed they sound (working on stuff from June now, 8/9 months later)
i'm currently in NY (US citizen, born in CA)...my fiancee is in Hong Kong and we've been distance for over 5 years (met here when she was on a work visa)...Last edited by Allen Long; 03-04-2015, 05:28 PM.

I think the Vietnam Consulate is different when it comes to scheduling an appointment, and hopefully the wait in other countries are shorter.
Keep me updated, and I will everyone else when I hear news too!

I am very uncertain as to whether you will be ready to get married in August.....I sent my docs to the Lockbox facility in Sept and still haven't heard anything and at this rate don't expect to for another 2 months.
The process is not even over then....it seems I will be another 1-3 months before its over even then.
I hope you can change your plans if it gets to that!
We are planning as much as we can without knowing a date and the venue will need to be booked last minute as it's so un certain when it will be over!
I feel your worries and frustration.
It was a 3-5 month wait when I applied and not it seems more like 7-8 months for most of us to even get the forms approved and onto the NVC!
Arghhhhhhh
So unfair for people who do things the right way! You feel like you get penalised for going through the proper route and it's so heart breaking.
But we will all get there this year we hope!
GOOD NEWS!!!!! The site states the last I-129F approved has jumped from 25th June.......to the 02nd August!!!!!! So maybe they are catching up little!!!!! YayLast edited by Luan; 03-07-2015, 03:06 AM.

Anyone else out there with a British Fiancé had their I-129F approved by the Lockbox office in Texas?
I'd like to have an idea of the best way to track things once the I-129F is approved and the forms are sent by them onto the NVC?
I have heard mixed views that the NVC have often sent your visa app onto the US Embassy in London long before they tell you so you could infact have booked your interview before you get the letter from the NVC?
Any feedback on this?
I am still awaiting approval from Lockbox! But hope to hear something over the next month or so and want to be ready to know how best to track it after that so I can book my interview an medical etc....
Thanks, ;0)

Hi Luna,
Quick question: Where do you find out the current month of applications they are looking at momentarily?

Hi,
Its on the USCIS main site, them hover over the ''tools'' tab, then click on ''see office case processing times''
Then you select the office (for me, Dalas TX, and under that the next field for me is TSC - Texas Service Centre) then click the field beside that for possessing dates.
That will take you onto the page that shows you all the types of forms being processed that that office and where they are with them.
I hope you find that ok.
It explains that if it does not say how many months they are taking it means they are behind schedule and so if you see a date in the end column that is the date the last one they approved was filed. So currently on the I-129F forms on the 06th March 2015 the last date they had approved was filled on the 02nd August last year......They update this page around every 3-4 weeks. They say on the 15th of every month, but as you can see it was last updated on the 06th of last month, so I am hoping in the next 1-2 weeks it will be updated again!
I hope this helps.
It's a tough wait!
