  • Processing time for KI visa for fiancee from Philippines

    Dear All,

My fiance who is naturally born in USA have already received the NOA1 from USCIS. I am curious how many months it takes to process K1 visa assuming there is no problem?Say, from date that we received the NOA1. I just need to plan ahead because I am currently living and employed in the Philippines and its not easy for me to leave my work in a short notice.

Also, does processing of K1 done through immigration lawyers get the high chances of approval? My fiance did not hire lawyer for our application but prepared the K1 visa application through the information of this site.

With the self prepared(no help for immigration lawyer) K1 visa application, is there any problem? Does processing takes longer than the application prepared by the immigration lawyer?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you.

K1 visa processing is averaging 6-8 months, from submittal to Embassy interview. Since the petition is already submitted, use of an attorney from here on would probably be a waste of money, unless there are some significant issues during the processing.

Thanks for the information. My fiance received response from USCIS after 2 months. But the response requiring us to submit a an evidence. Does death certificate evidence need to be submitted with a required format? I am curious if it needed to fill out the FC-029 for unaltered evidence of death certificate. Would appreciate your help on this. Or any other format? Thanks.

The FC-029 has not been needed for documenet submittal to USCIS for several years.
