Fiance visa approval rates vary by country. The various U.S. Embassy/Consulates seem to exercise different standards, based on knowledge of the country's history of scamming or petitioners not being of same ethnicity. Manila, Philippines, seems to be very "fiance-visa" friendly, with denials usually based on sponsorship issues or prior visa applications. Cambodia and Vietnam are difficult Embassies for non-Asian petitioners, with high rates of denial for mixed couples, most often for "lack of relationship evidence."

Juarez (Mexico) and Manila, however, seem to be especially cynical about older American women petitioning younger nationals, often because these relationships seem to have later high rates of failures.

On the other hand, the Manila Embassy does not seem to exercise the same approval reluctance with much older males petitioning much younger Filipino women.

I realize that the above statements are generalizations, but I have been seeing discussions of these same issues in different venues and have talked to people who experienced denials.
