Alimony is considered income for the receiving party and must be reported on the receiving parties 1040 Tax Return. The Payee may deduct the alimony payment from the total income earned and is therefore not considered income in that case. Child Support is not considered income gained by the custodial parent nor income losses by the non-custodial parent.
