  • Confusion regarding K1 Visa affidavit of support - help appreciated.

    Hello,

My fiance (USA sponsor) and myself (UK alien) are currently in the process of getting a K1 visa for me. We've been approved our NOA1 and NOA2, we're currently waiting for me to receive the mail confirming this. (Been about 3-4 weeks since NOA2 was approved so should be along soon).

We've been looking over the affidavit of support though, and we're confused and would really appreciate some help with this. My fiance currently has no income and lives with her parents, so her dad will be my co-sponsor for the affidavit. He makes over the 100% and 125% of the poverty line for the household, so that's not the issue. We are just getting confused over what evidence we need to show for him to be my co-sponsor, which form/s needs to be filled out in this case and who needs to fill the form/s out. Is a tax return enough or is more required/recommended? Does my fiance need to fill out a specific form even if it's blank?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Both your fiancee and her dad need to fill out separate I-134, Affidavit of Support, forms. A signed statement should be included from your fiancee explaining why she is unable to provide proof of income and tax filing. Dad will need to include copy of his U.S. birth cert, or U.S. passport ID page, or Green Card, and copy of his 2014 Federal tax return, W2 copies, employment verification letter, a few recent pay stubs and bank statements.
