Passport kept and got a call from DHS

Hello,

My fiancee finally had her interview 1 year since the process started. Her interview went well. The officers said that they just need to get my tax returns for current year( I filed for an extension, so I didn't send them) and they need to do some admin processing and gave 221G which said that they need my tax returns and they are doing admin processing.

They said not to worry and everything looked good.

I sent my tax returns and my fiancee got a call from the DHS on the way back from the interview and he asked her a few quetsions and followed up with an email.

I haven't read anywhere on this forum where they were contacted by the dhs. Anyone have experience with this?

They kepy her passport, so I thought that means it won't take that long, but I have read that many have been waiting for months after their passport was taken.

Any idea about this?

Have there been any cases where the administrative processing was done in a week or so? Is the embassy keeping the passport a good thing? or does it not matter? they could keep it for months?

My fiancee's flight is in 10 days. Should I contact them and ask for an update?

YOU SHOULD CONTACT THEM BEFORE THE DAY IS OUT. Have your case number ready beforehand. They are usually very helpful. Do not hesitate any longer.

Thanks! I sent the embassy an email, but they didn't reply. I will contact DHS tomorrow.

When I check on the state.gov website, it has a last updated on date and it seems to have been updated 3-4 times since the interview. Do they update this regularly? or is their system automatically doing this?

Is it a good thing that the case is being updated regularly?
