  • Spousal Interview Duration Short/Wait Time Long

My husband just completed his interview in Islamabad for the spousal visa. The interview lasted about five minutes, and he was asked around five questions, through a window. Is that normal? I thought interviews were supposed to last 40-60 minutes. The interviewer said his paperwork looked good, and that the interview went well. She said it would take around a month or two to process the visa. I thought it was supposed to take 7-14 days? Why is it taking so long? I'm just hoping it's not administrative processing in disguise.

Same situation with us, told us a month or two. It's been three weeks. Updated twice but still in AP. Hope that it's not literally two months!

Oh really? I guess they're just taking their time with this. My lawyer said they are cross-referencing government databases to see that the interviewee has no criminal records or anything. Did your spouse travel/live in other countries? Is he/she also in Pakistan?

My fiance's interview had like three rounds. It was realllly long. They finally put in administrative processing. I don't think the short interview means things aren't going well. Usually they are much longer, but maybe he didn't have any questions and it was a straightforward case.

How do you know they put it in administrative processing? Do they tell you that?

Oh interesting. I don't know how that affects anything. Good luck!
