  • Using a tourist visa to get married

Hello, I'm still very new to the forum, but I can't seem to find the answer to my question in any other thread. My fiance and I are set to get married in May 2017. It's going to be a large wedding with all of our family in Oaxaca, Mexico (where we met). Right now, I work in America and he is working in Mexico. Our goal is that after we get married in May 2017 in Mexico, he will move to America with me and find a job here (or maybe get transferred by his company to an office here). Ideally, we would like for him to have is green card by May 2017.... so we're thinking about having a civil ceremony here in America this May. Can we get married with him here on his tourist visa and then he goes back to Mexico and apply for him to get a green card while living in Mexico? I understand that this process can take longer than a year, but I'm unsure of a better solution, because we don't want him to live here and just be waiting around, he'd rather continue working in Mexico until the process is complete.

Yes, it is possible. I married my wife that way (she was on a tourist visa). This was in Texas, I do not know about other places.
