Hi everyone, I am in a bit of trouble right now and don't know where to turn.
I am Australian and 2 years ago I met my American husband. We submitted our application for a K1 and got the approval without issues. I went to the States, we got married, and I filed for adjustment of Status and got approved, then received my Parole card (not green card). With this parole card, I went back to my home country for what was supposed to be a 3 week family visit, but while there, I discovered my husband had been cheating on me before our wedding and we filed for divorce. I was devastated and did not return to the US or pick up my green card because I had no desire to return to the States. My husband informed me that he had processed everything with a lawyer and that he had informed the government that we were divorced. However, I did not check because I assumed that I would never return to the States again.
A year later and Lo and behold, I'm working for an American company and again fallen in love with an American, and he hopes that I can go and start a new life with him in America. I entered the US on a tourist visa without any issues earlier this year and stayed with him for 2 months then left the country. But now we are faced with the question of what to do in regards to submitting the K1 again. I had neglected to revisit that chapter of my history for so long that I have no idea where to start.
My questions are:
1. Given this history, what do you think should be my first step to applying for the K1 again? What should I check for and who should I ask? I have no clue.
2. Given this history, do you think it is likely that I can get an approval again?
Thank you for your attention and I hope I get some replies!
