  • AOS after K-1 Fiance Visa. Filing of I-485 and I-130 at same time

    Hi,
I am from the UK and got my K-1 Fiancé Visa approved, got married in the USA within the 90 days and just sent off my AOS (Adjustment of status) forms last week, I sent all of the forms needed for the I-485 and also sent off the I-130 as they advise you can.
I sent the package recorded delivery so I know it was signed for 4 working days ago. I sent off the form to ask for a Text or Email when my application was received and have not had anything yet neither has the cheque / funds been cashed and taken from our bank account yet?
Anyone done this part and knowhow long it takes before you get sent the receipt that they are processing stuff?
Also....I can see that the Processing time for the I-485 is about 4-5 months on average but as I filed the I-485 and I-130 together does that mean they wont start the I-485 part until the I-130 has been approved? Or do they doo it all at once? I have no idea how long this will all take and right now it means I can't get anything as I have no Social Security number and of course can't work let alone get things like credit cards or a phone on contract etc....
Has anyone filed the I-485 ad I-130 together and can give me any idea on if that slows things up?
    Thanks in advance.

awaiting letter to say application has begun!

Also....although it has been 10 days since they received the I-485 I have still not had any text / email / letter as receipt.
I called USCIS after they told me to call back after 10 days was up, so I did to now get told I need to wait till 30 days is up before chasing.
So I HOPE its all ok as otherwise a whole month as gone by that I can't do anything even if there was an issue. ARGH!
I know with the K-1 Fiance visa application I got the letter within 14 days so that's why I'm panicking. But I guess I need to wait until 30 days has been and gone now and hope all is well....let me know if anyone else that has filed their I-485 in 2015 has had to wait the full 30 days before getting any letters?

LOL, so just now after typing this & checking my emails again I find 4 x ''USCIS Acceptance Confirmations'' each one with different tracking number saying I will get my I-797 notice by post in the next 7-10 days....Hmmmm.
Well I did send off for the I-485 / I-130 / Work permit and travel parole thing, so maybe I get a tracking number for each? .... anyone know as I am confused as to why I have been emailed 4 different tracking numbers?

      Thanks

Well, the I-797 notices x 4 came in the post within days of getting that email. 1 x I-797 was under my Husbands name as I m filing he I-130 at the same time, so one was for the I-130 application. The other 3 x I-797's were in my name (one for my I-485 / one for my parole so I have permission to leave the U.S / one was for my Temp work permit ) those second two are optional but from my experience with the USCIS and visa time frames...they are LONG! So I wanted to do those two optional forms so that if I needed to I could leave the U.S and also I'd like to work as soon as possible!.

So....that was why I had 4 notices with 4 different case tracking numbers. Everyone will be different depending on what forms you sent off with your I-485 (Adjustment Of Status) application.

None of the I-797's actually tell you anything apart from the one for the I-485 which says I will be contacted next in regards to my Biometrics appointment to have my finger prints done.

Ok...so today (November 6th) I received a notice with my Biometrics apt date and time. It is booked for just under two weeks time so it has been pretty much 1 month from when Chicago received my docs until this point today. By the time I have my Biometrics Apt I will be about 6 weeks in to the process.
