Visa Denied (not ours) for Not Having Legit ******** Status?

My fiance told me that someone in her K1/2 group on FB (I do not do the FB thing) was denied (Philippines) visa because she and her boyfriend did not have their FB status set to "relationship" or "engaged." Seriously? I know people on this site and another told me it not matter, that social networking sites are not "required." Anyone here of anything like this? I hate FB. Just causes drama.
