  • fingerprints for visa? Experiences please...

My husband recently went for his visa interview in New Delhi (he is getting K3, finance visa while the spouse visa is pending. I am a USC), and was told to submit fingerprints. He went in today to submit fingerprints, pay the 4000R fee and everything. But they didn't take his passport, and instead told him that he would receive another letter in two weeks and to bring that letter and submit his passport then. I am frustrated because from what I understood, they take your passport and fingerprints the same day as the interview and then return your passport with visa via courier.

My husband said there were several other people who also submitted fingerprints and were told the same thing.
What is the deal? Is this usual procedure now? Any experiences from people on how long it takes to process these fingerprints (I know they go through a FBI database) and then to get your passport processed? As I mentioned, we are married and I filled out both the I-130 and then I-129F for him and everything was approved. Arugh...!!

I am not sure how the fingerprinting works in New Delhi, but I know in the UK the fingerprinting is not necessarily done at the date of the interview. It is sometimes done before the interview at a Biometrics Appt.
