using tourist visit (B2) for applying for green card

Hi Good Afternoon ,

I have a few questions I want to ask , I am a US citizen who wants to marry my girlfriend this year She is from Guyana SA She has been travelling to the US every summer for the past 2 years on a tourist visa This summer when she comes I want to marry her legally and file her green card papers She usually gets 6 months on her I 94 to stay in the country Can she overstay the 6 months while waiting for her papers? I heard she can apply for advance parole to travel home or else she can be denied a green card.
