  • I married an American Citizen but I will go to the UK to Study for 3 years

I just married an American Citizen in Arizona I have a B1/B2 tourist visa but I am planning to go to the UK to study and I wonder if I should apply for the residency or not? Because I know you have to stay in the US for certain time and not going abroad for more than six months. They have a special process for people like me who have to study abroad?

Another thing is that I am Mexican currently in the USA but I want to go back to Mexico next month, I wonder if I will have a problem when I want to cross the border again? I am married but I did not apply for adjustment of my immigration status. being married will affect me when trying to cross back to the US?

    Thank you!!!

You're better off doing nothing in the US right now. Go to the UK to study, assuming you have a UK study visa, and once you're about a year away from finishing up, have your spouse apply for a IR/CR-1 immigrant US visa.

As long as you dont overstay your valid B2, should have no problems coming back for short visits. Just be honest with CBP questions and carry proof of ties to home.
