Re applying for incomplete K1 visa

My son (English) hopes to marry his American fiancée and live in America.

The I-129F petition was approved in November and he received the paperwork to get the medical done and instructions on attending for an interview at the American embassy in London. He did not make the appointment as he had started his University degree here and they had decided to postpone the marriage until he finishes University.

Will they have problems reapplying in 2 years time? Is there anything that can be done to extend the I-129f petition until they are ready for him to travel to the USA?

I believe the petition expires a year after approval. There should be no issues for her to re-petition him later. She can start the process a few months before they're ready to get married.

She said she was informed she could not re-petition for 10 years. I have scoured the net and could not see this anywhere.

I'm not aware of any such rule, but then again, I'm not a lawyer. Someone more versed in K1 rules can chime in.
She should, however, be prepared for additional scrutiny reapplying for the same visa.
