I looked at some of the forums and I saw that I should have a balance in my bank account of about 5 thousand dollars. I am 125% above the poverty level but my estimated balance for the year is less then 1000 dollars. I sent my bf the forms needed for interview. I have statement for value of my house, titals for my cars, a bond, which isnt much. Letters from employees, wedding invitation, iteneary for travel for bf to usa. Letter of intent to marry addressed to consulate. Pictures of both of us. Copies of airline tickets proving we met in december.stamped 1-134. signed paper saying all documents copied are origionals and unaltered. aboput 200 pages of conversations. I also wrote a letter saying how long we are on cam each night about 6 hours a night. I also said how my bf is part of our lives. I am a foster mother and when the clients need advice they go to the cam and ask my bf as if he is sitting in my living room. I even begged a little at the end of letter aking to please let him come here to be my husband( a little begging cant be bad lol).I made sure i crossed my t's and dotted my i's. It will take 3 days for consulate to read through everything lol. I have cover page and little sticky notes on each part of forms with paperclips. It looks perfect.I cant think of anything else I need I went over and over to make sure everything is there and now i read this about the 5000 dollar balance Im worried. I filed in January for k-1 and his interview is march 7. He had his physical and police records so everything is done. Please wish us well as I do all u. Tell me if this is going to be a problem. Thanks for your advice.

    Good News Caregiver

Hi,I am new to the forum-infact this is my first post/reply.I am going through the same thing as you right now but I am alot farther behind in the process. But Ive done extensive research into the exact situation you have mentioned. As long as you have met the poverty guidelines Caregiver you dont have to worry about having money in the bank. The only reason you need to worry about how much money you have in your account is if you are sponsoring a Visitor or if you dont meet the 125% income guideline by income alone-EXAMPLE: If your tax statements showed your income was $1,000 below the poverty guideline you can make up the difference by showing you have 5 times the dollar amount you are short-meaning you would have to show you have $5,000 in the bank.Dont quote me on this but I think that you might be required to show proof that you didnt just put the money in your account the day before to meet the guideline. Proof could be established by showing previous months bank statements and/or a statement from the bank manager stating your balance history. If proof isnt required it surely wouldnt hurt to have it anyway. You dont want them thinking that you borrowed the money from someone for one day just to show a bank statement in order to meet guideline. But as long as your tax statements show that you have met the poverty guidelines(125%) thats all you need Caregiver-so dont worry about the $5000 thing. It doesnt apply to you-You have allready showed the burden of proof in your I-130,that is as long as you factored in any and all dependents/children/spouse- whether they live with you or not into determining what income level you should be at.I hope this helped-Good Luck Caregiver.
