Administrative processing K1 visa
Hi all, my fiance attended her K1 visa at US embassy in Cairo on 12/15/16. the CO congratulated her and told her that her Visa is approved and she should have it within 2 weeks. He handed her a paper saying that and instructed her to pay the immigration fee. after theses two weeks she got the passport without the visa and a paper slip saying that she is under administrative processing (AP). we tried to contact the embassy but no help at all even NVC says it is is under AP. the CEAC status still showing ready for interview (i don't know why there is a discrepancy in CEAC ) . it has been a month now since the interview and there is no update. the last case update on CEAC was by the date we called the embassy 01/05/17. what shall i do next? i don't understand why the tell people they are approved then put them in AP. i already booked her ticket and arranged for our marriage and honeymoon based on what the CO said. please help and advice thanks.

Even if you're told that you're approved at the Interview, the CO still performs another mandatory review of your case afterwards. This is to make sure that the decision they gave was the correct one. It's a second review. It seems like they had an issue when reviewing your K-1 application. That's why they handed back the passport without the visa. Now it's under review (Administrative processing).Originally posted by drsemadshafik View Post

Thanks for the answer. So you mean that My case now is under 221g ?????or do you think it is just a security/background check till they issue the visa (Middle east ) . Your case is under review. Especially since you got your passport back without a visa. Doesn't look good. Background checks are performed before you attend the interview. So I doubt it's due to that. It might be related to something different. Do you have an inclination of what you think went wrong? did you sense something wrong in the interview?Originally posted by drsemadshafik View Post
Don't get impatient just yet or get married. It'll invalidate your K-1 visa. Just be patient and figure out what's the problem. Email the Embassy and get a response.
Whatever the issue is may or may not affect your future eligibility for a CR-1. it depends on the nature of the 'administrative processing'.--Good luck--

Hi thanks for the reply , today i just noticed that someone looked into my case ad the last update date on CEAC has been changed by itself without making any inquires or phone calls. do you think it is a good sign?? i was about to email the consulate next week, shall i give them more time as the case is moving by itself or still send them an email? i contacted the NVC today and they told me it is kinda embassy level AP not department of state and it is according to there procedures which differs from embassy to another. i believe it is kinda background advanced check before issuing the visa ( it is a middle eastern region). thanks for your help again appreciate it.Originally posted by PKumar01 View PostComment
